Obituary for Kenneth Lamont Campbell

Our beloved Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Cousin and Friend,
Kenneth Lamont Campbell was born December 20, 1962 in Portland,
Oregon as the 2nd of five children born to Travis and Jewelia
Campbell. He departed this life on August 2, 2018.
Kenny grew up the protector of his younger siblings, making sure we
got home from school and sports events safely. Our fondest memory is
that Kenny was the family Monopoly King, always ending up with all
the houses, all the property and all the money. He would have to loan
us money to keep playing! Sometimes we would sneak and play
without him so someone else could win for once, but he would always
find us and ask “What are you guys doing? I’m jumping in!” On
Saturdays when we all had to share one TV, Kenny would always get
his way and we’d end up watching HIS shows like Touché’ Turtle,
Speed Racer or some other daredevil cartoon…which explained his
teenage years. We admired Kenny because had no fears.
Kenny graduated from Gresham High School in 1979. Because of his
“debating” skills with friends and family, no one ever won an
argument with him and we always thought he’d end up the family
attorney. Although he never got the opportunity to pursue his dream,
he had collected a library of law journals, books and famous cases.
Kenny became the father of his first child in the 80’s (Kenny II), but
when the mother passed away, her family took him to California, and
Kenny never saw his baby again. Kenny then had a second child
(Kenny Jr.), with Maureen, who he always kept in contact with. In
1987, he met Tina Walker, his wife, and together his son Jervelle was
born followed by son Terek and daughter KiKi. Their parents Kenny
and Tina married in 1998.
Kenny has worked as a customer service representative in the
financial industry for many years until he became disabled and
eventually moved into the Hollywood East Apartments in Portland
where he was well known and loved as the “Mayor of Hollywood
East”. He made many friends he cared about, who cared about him,
and we know he’s looking down smiling know that we care. Kenny
leaves behind his wife Tina, sons Kenny II, Kenny Jr, Jervelle, Terek,
daughter Kiki, his Mother Jewelia, brothers Travis Jr., Steven and
Mickey, sister Michelle, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and
